Electrical Appliance Quality Control Order Extended Till October 2026
The government has given companies more time to comply with mandatory safety rules for certain electrical appliances, extending the implementation deadline till October 2026.
The quality control order covers household and commercial appliances such as vacuum cleaners, cooking ranges, frying pans, liquid-heating appliances, electric heating tools and steam cookers. The order is meant to create a stronger quality ecosystem and limit substandard products.
The timing is notable because concerns around LPG availability and the West Asia crisis have increased attention on induction heaters and compatible utensils. If consumers rush toward electrical cooking options, safety standards become more important, not less.
For manufacturers, the extension creates breathing room. For consumers, the question is whether the extra time will still lead to better-tested products rather than a longer wait for safer standards.
Editors should confirm if any micro or small enterprise-specific timelines are later issued separately, as quality control orders often include phased compliance.
