WeWork India Leases 7 Lakh Sq Ft For Five New Centres
WeWork India's latest expansion suggests demand for flexible office space remains strong in major southern business hubs.
The company has leased more than 7 lakh sq ft of Grade A office space across Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Chennai to set up five new co-working centres. The new centres are expected to add around 12,000 desks to its portfolio.
The leases include three centres in Bengaluru and one each in Hyderabad and Chennai, with space taken from multiple property owners. The company says the centres are aimed at enterprises and high-growth companies looking for flexible, design-led workspaces.
This matters because the office market has changed since the pandemic. Many companies still want flexibility, but they also need high-quality locations, meeting spaces and enterprise-grade infrastructure.
The next question is whether occupancy keeps pace with expansion. Leasing space is the first move; filling desks profitably is the real test.
